WFP Nepal, in cooperation with researcher Rajali Maharjan (PHD, Tokyo Institute of Technology), recently released a new logistics study, which we hope contributes to advancing the field of humanitarian logistics, to be more evidence based. In Nepal, Mobile Logistics Hubs will enable a more rapid and effective emergency response if a disaster strikes. This study aims to determine the best placements for these hubs across the country. It uses a model based on the maximal covering location problem and indices of human development, disaster risk, and transportation accessibility to determine the optimal locations and order of establishment of the hubs.
