Introduction to cash transfer programming webinar – 19 September, 15.00 BST

September 19, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm BST

HLA Cash Transfer Free Webinar

HLA is running a free of charge webinar on the basics of Cash Transfer Programming on 19 September 2018 at 15.00 British Summer Time (BST).

In 2016, the then UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon called for cash transfer programs to become the ‘preferred and default method’ of aid. The increasing trend to transfer cash to people in need rather than in-kind commodities allows the recipients of aid to decide what to do with the money. At the World Humanitarian Conference in 2016, the question asked of aid agencies was not ‘why use cash?’ but ‘why not cash?’

The changing operational environment and the emergence of cash as a modality of choice, requires humanitarian organizations to expand and deepen the skills and knowledge base of their operational staff. Responding to this need, Fritz Institute set out to develop capacity building resources for the supply chain and logistics functions to support implementation and delivery of Cash Transfer Program (CTP).

The webinar is intended to provide participants with a basic understanding of how CTP is affecting supply chain’s role and responsibilities in effective and efficient implementation and delivery of humanitarian assistance. This session is not designed to be an instructional session. For more advanced training, participants are encouraged to look at CTP Unit of Certification in Humanitarian Logistics offered by CILT or CaLP’s Core CTP for Supply Chain, Finance and ICT Staff.

Delivered by Mitsuko Mizushima and Nathalie Abramo, of the Fritz Institute, the 40 minute webinar will cover:

  • Fundamentals of CTP – What is CTP; Why Cash?
  • Changing role of supply chain professionals from In-kind to Cash
  • Other in-depth training on CTP that is available
