Eco-supply chains and Cash operations workshops at IDR 2019

December 3, 2019 - December 4, 2019

HLA is pleased to run three workshops at the International Disaster Response (IDR) Expo in London from 3 to 4 December, 2019. IDR Expo (co-located with the International Security Expo) is a very important conference that is driving innovation in the humanitarian, relief and emergency aid areas, and as such presents a great platform to discuss issues relevant to humanitarian logistics.

The first workshop is on Eco-supply chains and will take place on 3 December from 10.30am to 12.30pm. It will be facilitated by HLA’s George Fenton, with presentations from Stuart Smith (Volga Dnepr Group),  Lee Purdy (GEODIS), Zal Rustom and Matthew Perkins (Ambipar), Kate Sedwell (Atlantic Pacific), and Chris Sutton (Tardis). This workshop will build on issues raised at the eco-supply chains workshop at AidEx Brussels 2019, and will present some more detailed examples from air cargo, freight, sustainable packaging, and emergency response from across these organizations.

The second eco-supply chains workshop will take place from 2.00pm to 3.30pm on 4 December, and will capture highlights from workshop one and propose some next steps.

HLA will also run a Cash operations workshop from 10.30am to 12.30pm on 4 December. Once again, this workshop will carry forward the discussions initiated at AiDEx Brussels 2019. Presenters include George Fenton (HLA), Peter Jones (Logistics Learning Alliance), Eva Mobray (IrisGuard), Brian Healy (Red Rose), and Jolene Shepherd (Absa Africa).

Topics to be discussed include cash transfers and digital identities, and some priority areas will be proposed for further discussion at HNPW in Geneva in February, as well as plans for a forthcoming (in 2020) webinar on the subject.

IDR highly recommends all these workshops for logisticians, academics, and students, with these workshops recognised as professional development and participants can claim CPD credits as a result. HLA is also particularly pleased to have the involvement of stakeholders from the private sector in these discussions, and recognises the increasing vital role they play in humanitarian response and logistics.

Spaces are limited so those interested in participating should register as soon as possible, directly on the IDR website at:
