HLA General Assembly, 1 October, Nairobi

HLA will be running a one-day Annual General Assembly in Nairobi on 1 October 2019, sponsored by key sponsors Bolloré Logistics, Tristar  Astral Aviation, Skylife Technology and Techno Relief Services. The meeting will comprise keynote speakers, panel discussion and facilitated workshops on the theme of Enhancing public and private sector engagement in Humanitarian Logistics – shaping the next decade.

Participants will include HLA members – both individuals and organizations – and senior representatives from NGOs, the private sector, Government and universities. The event will comprise of an association summit, keynotes and presentations from thought leaders and sector experts, and partner institutions, as well as an exhibition stand, where HLA management and volunteers will respond to queries from existing and potential new members.

The programme will cover the following four topics:

  1. Connecting: What are the key operational and relationship challenges active in the Humanitarian Logistics (HL) space?
  2. Standards: What should be the scope and priorities for the work needed to map, identify gaps, endorse and compile knowledge to inform HL standards?
  3. Climate change: What are the roles, challenges and opportunities for the humanitarian, private and public sectors to develop and manage eco supply chains?
  4. Humanitarian Aviation: How can cross-sector connectedness and information sharing at the local level be improved?

The event is scheduled to run prior to and linked with the 7th Africa Logistics Conference and is sharing the same venue, so attendees can network with delegates from the ALC. Outputs from the event will inform targeted follow up activities and meetings to work on specific solutions to identified challenges.
