HLA is supported by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
Following initial support for the HLA from the Fritz Institute in the United States, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT) is providing the association with a temporary home.
This will enable HLA to create procedures, standards and processes, grow its membership, and thrive in the future. CILT chief executive Steve Agg said ‘I am delighted with this new partnership. HLA will be given all the support required to set up and grow as a body. We have had an excellent working relationship with the Fritz Institute and are pleased that this link with the humanitarian logistics sector will be strengthened by these new arrangements.’
Commissioned and led by the Fritz Institute, and with the active participation and cooperation of a number of leading humanitarian organisations, CILT has developed a suite of qualifications designed to increase the knowledge and skills of logisticians working in the aid sector, NGOs, the United Nations and others around the world. Courses leading to these qualifications have already generated significant interest from a range of stakeholders contributing to increasing the efficiency by which goods are delivered to people affected by a disaster.
George Fenton, Chair of the HLA, and a long time member of CILT said ‘The new arrangements are an opportunity for the HLA to establish a strong pattern from which to support and develop the capabilities of logisticians who are working in the field, often in very challenging circumstances. The assistance provided by CILT has been very timely and extremely welcome. We very much look forward to engaging with the professional network that this new initiative helps us to access.’
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT) is the leading professional body for individuals and organisations involved directly and indirectly in transport, logistics and supply chain management.
