Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management – MIT-Zaragoza (ZLOG)
Training Description
The MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in International Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program is a 9-month full-time program intended for professionals interested in broadening their supply chain knowledge and developing problem solving and leadership skills that humanitarian organizations, global health organizations and commercial companies seek in an increasingly complex and dynamic marketplace. The program is offered in Zaragoza, Spain and is taught in English.
The ZLOG program builds on the top-ranked curriculum at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Students must complete core and elective coursework, a master’s thesis, and participate in an International Exchange during a unique four-week term in January with students from MLOG, their sister program at MIT, in Boston. Students admitted for the 2009-2010 academic year come from 21 countries.
Each ZLOG student is required to complete a research thesis for academic credit. It provides opportunity for students to conceive and execute independent research on a topic chosen by the student.
While many ZLOG students come from and return to the commercial sector, increasing numbers of students come from and/or take positions in humanitarian aid or in global health. The program includes an elective course on humanitarian and global health supply chains and the option of doing a masters thesis related to humanitarian logistics of management of global health supply chains. In the past, partial or full scholarships have been offered specifically to applicants from these sectors. Internships that allow students to do paid work on research in global health while pursuing their degree have also recently been offered.
Admissions
The admissions process ensures that the individuals invited into the Master's (ZLOG) program are well-prepared for intensive studies in logistics and supply chain management and positioned for success upon graduation. Completion of a four year undergraduate program equivalent to the Bachelor's Degree is required.
Diversity in the student body is an important characteristic of the ZLOG program. While applicants are expected to have an aptitude for analytical thinking, a previous degree in engineering is not required. Work experience from a variety of operational and management responsibilities provides a valuable background for the ZLOG program. However, we do welcome exceptional students with little or no work experience. We invite applicants from a wide range of backgrounds.
Tuition Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition is €21,500. This amount does not cover administrative fees, books, living or travel expenses to Zaragoza or Boston for the international exchange.
