Fixed Term for 3 months
£24,475- £26,745 per annum (plus £2,000 per annum hardship allowance, accommodation and per diem)

At MAG (Mines Advisory Group), we deliver practical and positive solutions that assist the process of peace and stability in both conflict and former conflict countries. During the past 20 years we have safely found, removed and destroyed millions of landmines, small and large bombs, missiles and other tools of armed conflict. By freeing up millions of acres of land we are the precursor to the development and economic growth of conflict-affected countries throughout the Middle East, South East Asia and Africa.

Having worked in the country between 2004 and 2007, MAG restarted operations in Chad in May 2008, with a new project aimed at clearing landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO) and abandoned ordnance (AO) contamination in central, eastern and southern parts of the country. This contamination mainly originates from fighting in recent years between the Chad National Army and various rebel groups.  The project was completed in 2009.

MAG has recently reestablished operations in Chad, and is therefore seeking a Logistics Manager to help establish operations during the first 3 months.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the postholder will plan, coordinate and monitor equipment purchases and deployments, build the capacity of national logistics and stores staff, and develop, implement and maintain effective control systems for the extensive resources used by the programme. The postholder will also contribute to logistical planning and to the procurement components of funding proposals, and ensure accurate and timely reporting and compliance with company procedures.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in implementing and managing independent logistical controls within an international organisation. The candidate should also have the ability to report on a timely and accurate basis both externally and internally to the organisation. You will also need previous experience of working in a developing country, preferably within the region and an understanding of the constraints this imposes.

Fluency in French and English is essential for this role.
